not particularly good at waiting

So this is getting interesting:  I had an email from my audiologist yesterday agreeing with the surgeon.  She said, you WILL get hearing from the CIs.  The question is how much and how fast.

If so that makes most of the risk short-term, which changes my FMEA quite a lot.  I'd almost say that the risk is minor enough that I don't know if I feel the need to mitigate it.

And at that point it's a whole new ballgame.  

I'm still waiting on my insurance company, :::::tapping foot:::::-  oh quite patiently, yes indeed.  HA.  Not so much.

I've scheduled a short business trip for two weeks from Monday on the theory that I should get it over with.  By that time I should have heard from insurance but could not have scheduled the surgery yet. 

My doctor ordered the pneumococcal meningitis vaccine for me, which is required, and once I hear from insurance I have to schedule a pre-surgical checkup.

    It's a shame that you can't do what Fonzie does when he gets impatient about the service around here. If you could, you'd find who's in charge of your case at the insurance company and then sit on their chest and stare at them until they do what you want.

where do we go from here?

  After our success in attending live theater in February, we decided to give a movie a try.  An actual movie in an actual theater.  My husband wanted to see "Oppenheimer" so he asked if I wanted to go.  Sure, I said, but let's go to that theater in Waconia that has captioning.  I know I'll miss things if there's no captioning. So we went online and bought tickets (it's also one of those theaters with recliners rather than tiny little theater seats, which was quite nice, though not nearly as comfortable as the recliner in our sectional at home).   Then we drove an hour.  See, we live outside a small town.  There are two theaters in town, but neither has captions (according to the websites, anyway, and I think if they had it they'd say so).  So we drove to a town that's an hour from home, but is increasingly becoming less of a town and more of an outer-ring suburb of Minneapolis. post time

So this morning I had my call from the surgery center nurse.  It was fine - she speaks clearly and loud enough and once I asked her to slow down a bit we did just fine.  We are good to go. Tonight I have to take a shower and then wash my entire self from the neck down with an antiseptic skin cleanser, TWICE.  Then I do that again in the morning.  Apparently we are Not Having Skin Germs in my incision. And then we go up to the U. Next post I'm going to have a big bandage over my right ear! 😃😊
